2013 was simply an amazing year for my photography thanks to all my amazing clients. There are hundreds of photographers to choose from in the Tampa Bay area and I am so thankful for each and every one of my clients who chose me to capture the most precious people in their lives. Trusting me to freeze a moment in time and hoping these photos will forever be cherished. It was such a tremendous year in growth for my photography and I am looking forward to all the amazing experiences I get to look forward to!
Where has this year gone? Thanksgiving came and went and now we are nearing the end of the year. This month’s blog circle is a little different because I didn’t take all of the photos! Sherri Kelly is a local photographer who I met a couple of years ago and I have been lucky to call her my friend. I love meeting up with her and chatting about our crazy photography obsession! This year, we decided to swap family photos for the holidays. I am so glad I did because it is so much better than trying to do it yourself! My boys obviously don’t love when I take photos of them so I was hoping that someone else would have better luck. Well, they didn’t completely cooperate, but Sherri worked her magic and these photos came out amazing! Enjoy the photos and don’t forget to click on the link at the end to follow along the circle!
I did get a chance to get some photos of the kids making and decorating gingerbread cookies. I had the bright idea of making everything from scratch and what a disaster that was! The kids thought it was a flour party and got it everywhere! I was cleaning up flour all day long! We had fun though and I’m glad the boys have this memory to look back at!

This year is slowly slipping away and has it been a year to remember. For this month’s Life by Lens post, we chose the theme “thankfulness”. If you have been following my blog, you know I am participating in a month blog circle with some of the most talented photographers where we document our everyday lives. My life is so blessed with so many things I am thankful for and this post will not even touch the tip of the iceberg but it’s a start.
For my little boy growing up (too fast)…
For candy filled Halloween with the cutest Storm Trooper and cowboy you have ever seen…
For camping with amazing lifelong friends…
For remembering school days…
For traveling and making memories…
For the most amazing man I get to call my husband…

Welcome to another edition of our monthly blog circle, Life by Lens! Hard to believe that it’s been a month since the last Life by Lens post and a month since my oldest has been in school. He is loving every minute of it and doing so well! We decided to go back to the theme idea and we chose to improve on using more of the environment in our photos. I had every intention of taking the boys out and capture some photos at a fabulous location but every single afternoon, the storm clouds rolled in and it was just a torrential downpour that put a big damper on my plans. So I had to come up with a Plan B; shooting inside and using our home as the “environment”. Well that didn’t really work either but I still got these photos that I love of my little peanut in some moody light. Somebody pinch me because how in the world did I end up with the cutest little bug in the world? (Ok, that had nothing to do with using the environment but we all have to agree he is pretty darn cute!) So next time we come up with a theme, I’ll have to redeem myself and come up with something to blow you away!
And did you know that a two year old’s mood can change in a blink of an eye?
Next up is the amazing Nicole Everson in North Florida! She does such beautiful work from weddings to newborns, she does it all!
I just love what I do so much that every session is truly an honor for me. This little peanut was 12 days old on the day of his session but he wasn’t a big fan of being posed in the typical newborn poses. However, as soon as I decided it was time to swaddle him up, he fell fast asleep and gave me and his parents the biggest smiles I have ever seen on a newborn! We could not stop laughing and smiling ourselves. I managed to pull myself together and made sure I captured it for the parents. Here are some of my favorite photos from his session.
Fall is coming, don’t you feel it? Who am I kidding, fall doesn’t really exist in Florida but we can all pretend right? I am offering Fall/Holiday Mini Sessions this year to those that a looking for a short session just to get a few updated family photos. It’s also nice to have them done and out of the way before the holiday rush starts. Your family deserves nice photos to show off to your family and friends!

My little boy is growing up before my eyes. I still remember those sleepless nights when he was a newborn, the excitement of him rolling over for the first time, taking his first steps, his first words (I can’t believe we were ever worried about his speech!), lots and lots of firsts that we were excited about. I never thought I would be THAT mom though, you know the one that will be bawling when she drops off her first born off at Kindergarten? It’s such a huge deal though. Isn’t it? Next thing you know, he’s going to middle school, then high school, getting his license, graduating, going off to college, getting married, having kids of his own, and and and… What? I’m losing it? But it’s Kindergarten people! Where he will be learning reading, writing, and arithmetic, bringing home homework, making new friends, tying his own shoes, buying his own lunch and bringing it to the table all by himself!
Brandon is such a wonderful kid and I know he make our family proud each and every step of the way. Those tears when I take him to his classroom will only be tears of joy because I can’t believe what an intelligent, independent, funny, considerate, and sweet boy he has become over the last five years.
So of course I had to take him out to make sure I document this important milestone in his life. Just look at my handsome boy, ready to venture into the big world!
(Thank you Grandma for the adorable blazer! I knew it would come in handy one day!)
Next up is the wonderful Sherri from Sherri Kelly Photography! I love that she’s in town and we can meet up and talk photography!
I had a pretty special newborn session with baby Michael. We started out with some traditional posed photos of him, where he decided to soak me with a really powerful stream! Mom scheduled the session while both sides of grandparents were there visiting and we able to get photos with each grandparent. The last part of the session was a lifestyle session with his parents, something that is becoming one of my favorite types of photos. It was just them, not posed, doing things that they normally do, and the challenge for me is to find the best light to capture it all. I was so happy to deliver such a diverse gallery for them to have. Thank so much H Family for choosing me to photograph your new family!
Mom contacted me when Miss Chelsea was 5 weeks old and she wanted some photos of her new baby. She was weeks out of the magic window for those sleepy newborn photos but I told mom I was going to try anyway because she had missed out on those. And I am so glad I tried! Miss Chelsea was 8 weeks old by the time I was able to come take photos of her but she slept as well as some of my newborns! It didn’t last as long but we worked fast and got some really lovely peaceful dreamy photos of her. And when she woke up, she was full of smiles and gave me amazing eye contact! Meet 8 week old beautiful Chelsea. She is too cute for words and perfect in every way!
If you have been following my blog for the last few months, you know that I’m a part of a monthly blog circle project with a group of crazy talented photographers where we try to document things in a different way than we normally would. At the end of my blog post, you can view the next photographer’s post and so on and so on until you’ve come full circle!
We probably head out to the beach 2-3 times a month, especially during the spring and summer and my boys just have a blast playing in the sand. And this time around, we all had fun building a sand castle so that my 5 year old could … what else?…Destroy it… Of course right?
